The resolution of disputes between individuals and/or groups has preoccupied humanity since it first appeared on earth. Thus, to deny the need to establish systems to deal with
Societal disputes is utterly illogical.
In addition to delivering what was revealed to him, the Prophet of Islām played an essential role in instituting divine guidance, secure order and a just society. The endeavours and strivings of Muslim jurists to clarify Allah's divine teaching with that of the Prophet and the error-free Imams have established what is known today as the Islamic juridical system.
Prior to his departure from this transient world, the author served as Dean of the International Colleges for Islamic Studies, London, and as Professor of Islamic Law and Philosophy at the Islamic College, in partnership with Middlesex University, London. He also fulfilled the role of Imām and spiritual leader of the Imām Khoei Islamic Centre.
